Inter Milan have turned down an offer worth €20 million from a club in the Premier League for midfielder Kristjan Asllani.
This according to Italian outlet FCInterNews. They report that the Nerazzurri continue to have full faith in the 22-year-old Albanian international.
Asllani has not been a regular in the Inter starting eleven this season.
As with his first two campaigns with the Nerazzurri, the Albanian international has purely been a backup option.
Asllani joined Inter from Empoli in the summer of 2022 as a backup for Marcelo Brozovic. However, it was instead Hakan Calhanoglu who emerged as Inter’s first-choice holding midfielder.
Therefore, Asllani has been the main backup for Calhanoglu in the squad.
Considering Calhanoglu’s importance to the team, it has not been easy for Asllani to displace the Turkish international from the lineup.
And during the one spell this season where Calhanoglu was out with an injury, Asllani also was suffering from a knock.
Therefore, the likes of Nicolo Barella and Piotr Zielinski were forced to play in holding midfield instead.
Naturally, Asllani’s lack of playing time has led to doubts about his future.
And according to FCIN, an offer has arrived for January that has put the Nerazzurri’s resolve to the test.
The outlet report that an unnamed Premier League club has put a bid in.
According to FCIN, it is not one of the biggest name clubs from the English top flight. However, they report that it is a team that have been having a strong 2023-24 season.
FCIN report that this Premier League team made Inter an offer of around €18-20 million for Asllani.
Moreover, the outlet report, this club has also offered Asllani more playing time.
However, FCIN report, Inter rejected the bid. They continue to see Asllani as having an important place in their future plans, and have no intention of selling the young midfielder.
