Reigning Serie A champions Inter are reportedly ready to launch an offer for Al-Nassr star forward Sadio Mane this winter. According to French outlet Sport.fr via FCInter1908, Simone Inzaghi’s men are considering approaching the Saudi Pro League powerhouse with a tangible proposal for the 32-year-old.
Mane left Europe to embrace the reaches of the Middle East in the summer of 2023 after a disappointing season at Bayern Munich. However, less than two years into his experience in the desert, the Senegalese superstar could return to the highest stage, with Inter earmarking him as a concrete target for the January transfer window.
Desperate times sometimes require desperate measures, and Inter desperately lack depth in attack after Joaquin Correa and Marko Arnautovic proved unreliable. In addition, Mehdi Taremi has struggled to settle in the new surroundings, leaving Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram as the only dependable attacking options.
Though Mane’s year-and-a-half stint at Al-Nassr could’ve impacted his match fitness, Inter are willing to bet on the former Liverpool ace. The 20-time Italian champions could cut ties with Arnautovic by the end of the month despite Torino’s hesitance to establish contact with the Nerazzurri after registering an interest in the Austrian veteran.
Meanwhile, Correa will part company with Inter in the summer after the club refused to offer him a new contract. Therefore, Mane could be a decent short-term solution. Speaking long-term, Inzaghi’s charges are keen on bringing two teenage prospects.
Newell’s Old Boys starlet Tomas Perez is one step away from joining Inter, whileDinamo Zagreb’s Petar Sucic ranks highly on the club’s wish list.
