Scorers: Arnautović 30', Asllani 45+2'

On course to reach progress in the Champions League while also remaining in the hunt for the Scudetto on the domestic front, I Nerazzurri are hoping to extend their Coppa Italia run to the semi-finals after dispatching Le Zebrette.

The Serie A giants thought they had a penalty inside the opening 10 minutes after Christian Kabesele was originally judged to have handballed Marko Arnautović’s goal-bound effort, but match official Luca Massimi consulted VAR before changing the on-pitch decision.

Arnautović would be involved again as Inter took the lead in the 30th minute, combining with fellow backup striker Mehdi Taremi, who played the Austrian striker in before a comfortable finish put Inter out in front.

Albanian midfielder Kristjan Asllani doubled Inter’s lead on the night in the second minute of added time with a goal direct from a corner after Davide Frattesi failed to connect with his attempted header.

Comfortable but hardly dominant, Inter saw out the remaining minutes with a pending home meeting with Como on Monday evening.

Inter will now play host to Lazio at San Siro in the quarterfinals of the competition, joining the capital outfit alongside Juventus, Atalanta, Bologna, Milan, Roma, and Empoli.
