During his first pre-match press conference of the season, Simone Inzaghi said that a new defender will force Inter to change their plans for the Champions League list.

Inter will submit their UEFA list after the summer transfer window, and even if all current team members are involved, Inzaghi expects to welcome a new left-wing back to replace the injured Tajon Buchanan.

Inzaghi confirmed on Friday that a new purchase in defence will push one of Inter’s current players off the UEFA list.

“Right now, without a defender, all players would be in,” said the Nerazzurri boss.

“However, when we sign a defender, we’ll have to decide for the Champions League. As for Serie A, they are all in. Everyone is involved, even if the market is evolving.”

Inzaghi added that he could not decide whether he’d prefer another Serie A title or reach a Champions League Final this season.

“It’s a classic question I’ve been unable to answer since April 22 [when Inter won the Serie A title beating Milan],” he admitted.

“We must think about the emotions that we’ve lived, hoping to give more of the same to our fans. I am proud of what we’ve done, but it’s not an easy answer.”
