FC Seoul on Sunday 5th February announced the loan signing of Korean international striker Hwang Ui-jo from Nottingham Forest.

Hwang had options from MLS but says that he chose FC Seoul for the good of his career:

"First and foremost, from a playing aspect - that’d be the first thing, I’d say [in choosing to sign for FC Seoul]. I made the choice for myself and for my future career. I thought choosing a team in Seoul would be a good decision."

Hwang has worked with An Ik-soo before as the pair were at Seongnam at the same time back in 2013:

"I was just a rookie back then and he was a scary manager. I got yelled at a bit but learned a lot about football. In terms of what I’ve learned from one single individual, I learned a lot from An Ik-soo. Going forward as well there’s a lot I still want to learn."

Up next is Kagoshima in Japan on Monday 6th February where Hwang Ui-jo will take part in his first FC Seoul training session.

Seoul will stay in Japan until February 18th before getting the 2023 Hana 1Q K League 1 campaign underway on the 25th in a Gyeongin Derby against Incheon United.
