Inzaghi confirms turning down Premier League approaches | OneFootball

Simone Inzaghi reveals he had ‘possibilities’ to work in the Premier League both when he was at Lazio and Inter, but turned them down. ‘Nobody can be certain about the future, though.’

The coach will face Arsenal at San Siro in the Champions League on Wednesday at 20.00 GMT.

It is going to be the second time this season that his Nerazzurri have played an English opponent following the 0-0 draw away to Manchester City.

With that in mind, and the very narrow 1-0 Champions League Final defeat to Manchester City in 2023, Inzaghi’s profile has been growing on the English football scene.

During his press conference today, the coach was asked if he would ever consider coming to the Premier League for work.

“It’s very interesting football, all coaches like it. I don’t deny that there have been possibilities over the last few years, even when I was at Lazio, but I was happy at Lazio and I’m happy at Inter,” he replied.

“I like it (English football), it intrigues me, but I’m at one of the best teams in Europe and I’m happy here. Nobody can be certain about the future, though.”

Inzaghi linked with many Premier League clubs

This sparked speculation as to who had approached him over those periods, as it was mentioned many times that he was on the Manchester United wish-list over the summer before they decided to stick it out for a little longer with Erik ten Hag.

There had also been reports of Chelsea, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur interest over the years.

The 48-year-old former striker is the younger brother of ex-Milan hitman Pippo Inzaghi and has been coaching since 2016 at Lazio, moving to Inter in the summer of 2021.

He has won one Serie A title, three editions of the Coppa Italia and five of the Supercoppa Italiana.
