Striker Marko Arnautovic got the start for Inter Milan against Cagliari yesterday.

And the former West Ham United and Stoke City striker proved that he still has plenty to give Inter.

Arnautovic was the scorer of Inter’s opening goal in the first half.

Then, the Austrian produced a brilliant assist for Lautaro Martinez for the Nerazzurri’s second goal.

With his lively performance, Marko Arnautovic showed that he’s not just at Inter to make up the numbers. He is ready to make a big contribution in the run-in of the season.

Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi stressed that “we need everyone” in the run-in of the season.

“Marko is doing very well,” the Nerazzurri coach continued. “But that’s nothing new.”

“He did just as well last season,” Inzaghi argued.

“Today he was very good, As he has been in the last few matches here at the San Siro.”

“Now he has to keep going like this,” the Inter coach went on. “All of Inter has to.”

“We’re at our 48th match of the season already. Last season there were 49. We can’t stop now.”

Meanwhile, Inzaghi gave his thoughts on the Club World Cup this summer. “It will take a lot of energy,” the Inter coach said. “We’ll prepare for it with a lot of sacrifice.”

Then, the Inter coach said that “it’s too early to say” who will start against Bayern Munich in Wednesday’s Champions League quarterfinal second leg.”

“Maybe you get some ideas. But we need to see how the next couple days go.”

“Some players need a breather,” Inzaghi noted. “The ones who played gave us a lot.”

And then, the Nerazzurri coach also updated on the fitness of wingback Federico Dimarco.

“He was fine,” he said of the wingback, who started against Cagliari yesterday.

“I was initially undecided about whether or not to start him,” the coach added. “He had a bit of a physical problem in Parma.”

“Today, there was some hesitation. But he was giving a very good response, so much so that he would have liked to keep playing.”

“He played a great match,” Inzaghi said of Dimarco.

“Let’s hope that there are no problems,” he added. “And that we can have him back at his best on Wednesday.”
