Juventus are on red alert after Ipswich Town suffered relegation from the Premier League, with Liam Delap available on a cut-price deal. Per Fabrizio Romano, Ipswich’s immediate return to the Championship activates an affordable release clause in the 22-year-old’s contract.
As a result, Delap will be available for only £30 million. Given today’s market prices, it’s a bargain, yet Juventus will face stiff competition for the Englishman’s services. Indeed, numerous Premier League clubs have registered an interest in the Manchester City academy graduate.
Manchester United and Chelsea reportedly lead the chase, with the former seeking a prolific marksman after Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failed to meet expectations. However, Juventus are hellbent on signing a top-class striker to replace exit-linked Dusan Vlahovic.
Delap has been a revelation this season, netting 12 goals in 33 league appearances for Kieran McKEnna’s side. Ipswich signed the sought-after goal-getter for €17.85m in the summer of 2024. Therefore, they’ll make nearly double that figure, with Juventus willing to pay the price.
Aware of the growing interest in Delap, Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli keeps several other avenues open. Atalanta talisman Mateo Retegui has recently emerged as a tangible target for the Turin heavyweights. Yet, they’d need to splash out around €50m to get the deal over the line.
Juventus must also address the futures of Vlahovic and Paris Saint-Germain loanee Randal Kolo Muani. After a scintillating start to life in Turin, the Frenchman’s form has dwindled, diminishing his chances of securing a permanent move to the Allianz Stadium.
