Ipswich Town are the surprise package in the Championship this season.

They have shocked the league since being promoted to the second tier last year, and are aiming to make it two promotions in two years with their performances so far.

The Tractor Boys are currently battling Southampton and Leeds United for the second automatic promotion place.

Recent poor form by Leicester has also left the door wide open for a push for the title, which is something that manager Kieran McKenna never could have imagined after being promoted to the league in 2023.

Despite a lull in form over the winter, new signings like Kieffer Moore and Jeremy Sarmiento have reinvigorated the side, and an impressive run of form has propelled them up the table.

Kieran McKenna is linked with Stuttgart job

Kieran McKenna could not be in the English game for long, after reports of interest in the young manager from mainland Europe.

As per Bild, German side Stuttgart are interested in the 37-year-old, who guided Ipswich to promotion from League One last season.

He is being monitored as a long-term replacement for current manager Sebastien Honeß, who has recently signed a new contract after guiding the club to third place in the Bundesliga.

While the German club will not want to lose their manager, if he does leave for a bigger club in the summer then they will have a fantastic replacement lined up in McKenna.

The forward was rewarded for his impressive performances in February, which saw Ipswich Town climb above Leeds and Southampton into second place in the Championship.

He scored three times and assisted twice last month, with all three goals coming during injury time in increasingly important matches for the Tractor Boys.

This recognition is great for the player's confidence, and could propel him to play even better in the future.

However, the interest being shown to him will make it even harder for the club to keep hold of him when his loan deal at the club runs out.

Hutchinson is currently on loan from Chelsea at Ipswich. While he is performing well at Portman Road, the reported interest from multiple European clubs could turn his head in the summer.

Nathan Broadhead could return from injury against Cardiff City this weekend, following a late fitness test.

The Welshman hasn't played since limping off after the 3-1 home win against Birmingham City, and missed the next two matches for the Tractor Boys.

With 11 goals to his name, Broadhead was a big miss for the club, and his return could make the side even deadlier going forward.

Ipswich's Conor Chaplin posted on social media following the Tractor Boys last victory in the Championship.

The former Portsmouth forward posted photos of the team celebrating the victory over Bristol City, with the caption "MENTALITY of this group🔝💙".

The club's resiliency has been a huge factor in their excellent form so far this season. No team has won more points from losing positions than the Tractor Boys, who have picked up 28 points after going behind in a match in the Championship.

With more goals scored than any other team in the league, and their games have seen more goals in them (for and against) as well. It shows great excitement is to be had at Portman Road, but also that the side are incredibly headstrong when going a goal down this season.

It is this resilience and togetherness that has propelled them towards the top of the table, and they will surely be playing in the Premier League next season if they can continue this fine form until the end of the campaign.
