Is a Celtic forward the final piece for Manchester City’s summer puzzle?

With the departure of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid, Manchester City does appear in need of one more attacking player to complete Pep Guardiola’s squad. The catch is that the champions don’t need another big-money signing at this stage of the summer. The champions need a player who is happy to come in and be a squad player rather than a player who demands to play every game. With that in mind is Celtic forward Kyogo Furuhashi the ideal player to slot into Pep Guardiola’s squad? That may be a realistic possibility based on a new report.

Sam Lee has reported for The Athletic that Manchester City’s scouts have identified Kyogo Furuhashi as a potential replacement for Julian Alvarez. Furthermore, Lee adds that the champions have identified another player as a potential target. That player hasn’t been named at this stage. Lastly, Lee reports that Furuhashi is keen to move to the world champions.

Kyogo Furuhashi could be the perfect player to end Manchester City’s search for another attacking player.

As a player, Kyogo Furuhashi could be the ideal addition to Manchester City’s squad. During his time at Celtic, he has shown that he is a quality finisher. He has scored 73 goals in 135 games for the Scottish giants. Kyogo Furuhashi is also an intelligent player and a deadly finisher when the chances are created. Those are attributes that would be ideally suited to add to Pep Guardiola’s squad. Given that Furuhashi is a quality finisher he looks to be the ideal player to serve as a backup to Erling Haaland.

There may be one possible impediment to any potential move from Manchester City for the Japanese international. It is also included in Sam Lee’s report that Furuhashi is currently nursing a shoulder injury. Lee adds that if the Japanese striker has surgery on the injury he could miss four months of the season. Could that factor into Manchester City’s decision to move for Kyogo Furuhashi? That remains to be seen.

But on closer inspection, Kyogo Furuhashi looks to be the ideal addition to Manchester City’s squad. He is a proven performer for Celtic and has played at a high level for several seasons now. It may be a relatively simple deal to complete if Manchester City do decide to move for the Celtic forward. What remains to be seen is if the world champions will move for the Japanese international. That is now a story to watch for over the finals days of the transfer window.
