August is set to be a crucial month for West Brom, with their Championship season campaign starting on the 10th when they travel to QPR, and the transfer window closing 20 days later on the 30th.

Carlos Corberan's side will be looking to build on their 2023/24 campaign which saw them reach the play-offs, and with the league looking more open this season, there's no reason why they can't challenge for promotion.

Being smart in the transfer market and starting the season well will be crucial if the Baggies are to be in the mix to win promotion this year, and with that in mind, here are the three things that could have West Brom supporters in August dreamland.

Isaac Price joining

West Brom have been linked with a recent move for Standard Liege midfielder Isaac Price and have reportedly sent an improved bid to bring him to the club.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri has reported that the Baggies are pushing ahead in their attempts to sign the Northern Irish international, after seeing a previous bid rejected.

Price joined Standard Liege from Everton last summer, and the 20-year-old was a regular for the Belgian outfit, making 40 appearances for the club.

The midfielder is clearly seen as someone with a lot of potential, and if the Baggies are able to get his signing over the line, he's someone that could potentially be sold for a lot of money in the future if he continues on an upward trajectory.

Following Conor Townsend's recent departure for Ipswich Town, West Brom are desperately short of players at full-back, and it's clear that additions will have to be made in the near future.

In the last couple of days, the Baggies have seen the likes of Okay Yokuslu, Townsend and Brandon Thomas-Asante leave the club, but John Percy of The Telegraph has reported that the club see this as good business and that the club aim to replace them.

West Brom fans will be hoping this is the case, as they currently have just one full-back at the club in the form of Darnell Furlong.

Townsend's departure means that the club currently have no recognised left-back, and this is something that will need to be addressed in the very near future.

Signing some full-backs in the coming weeks will certainly help to allay any fears that the Baggies fanbase may have about their lack of depth.

A statement victory over Leeds United

West Brom welcome Leeds United to the Hawthorns on the 17th August in a game that could well be an indicator of how strong the Baggies are this season.

The Whites finished 3rd last season and are expected to be competing in the upper echelons of the Championship table once again, and if Corberan's side were to get one over them, it would show that they mean business and are in contention for promotion.

The Championship could be more open than it was last season with the clubs relegated from the Premier League perhaps not as strong as they were during the 2023/24 season, and it could give Leeds and West Brom the perfect opportunity to get promoted.

Taking points off promotion rivals is always an important ingredient in a successful campaign, and if West Brom were to send Leeds back to Yorkshire empty-handed on the 17th August, it could give the Baggies the momentum to go on and enjoy a season of success.
