FC Barcelona continue their journey in the UEFA Champions League and have now secured their presence in the quarter-finals of the competition after having beaten SL Benfica in the Round of 16 tie with a 4-1 scoreline on aggregate.
Raphinha was perhaps the most influential player for the Blaugranes in this tie, as he scored a brace in the second leg last night after having scored the sole goal in the first leg a week ago.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Brazilian also talked to the media after the game last night, and expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance:
“It was a great match, especially in the first half. We knew we had to play a great game, we were focused, and we had the advantage from Lisbon (0-1). We had a great first half to secure the win.”
The winger expressed his conviction about his team’s chances of winning silverware this season:
“I think we are contenders to win it all.”
Although he has scored 5 goals only in the 3 games against Benfica this season, he emphasised the good overall performance of his team:
“For me, the most important thing is what we achieve as a team.”
Lamine Yamal assisted the first goal scored by Raphinha last night, and the Barcelona star also praised his young teammate:
“He is the youngest, we know everything he can offer, he is a spectacular player with tremendous quality, and we just have to win with him.”
The winger also explained that the recent tragic death of Dr Minarro allowed his team to come into this game with greater mental strength:
“What happened gave us strength to come into the match against Benfica with determination.”
With his performance last night, the Brazilian is now the top scorer in UCL. Hopefully, he will put in some more goals in the coming matches as well to help Barcelona advance even further into the competition.
