Former Italy international Demetrio Albertini sees the Azzurri’s glass as half full despite a 3-1 loss against France on Sunday.
The Azzurri finished second in their Nations League group after losing 3-1 at home to France last night.
“There’s a bit of bitterness, but it should not affect this team’s path,” Albertini told Sky Sport Italia on Monday.
“We knew where we started from. The Euros were not positive. France played really well yesterday. On paper, they can be considered stronger than Italy. Surely, we could do more, especially on the first goal. It was a tough start, but we must be sincerely happy with what this team is doing. Not the result, but I am confident.”

Albertini, a former Milan and Barcelona midfielder, was part of the Italy squad that reached the 1994 World Cup Final. He had 79 international appearances and won the Champions League three times with Milan.
The 53-year-old was also asked if he likes Inter star Nicolò Barella playing as an attacking midfielder for the national team.
“Central midfielders used to be more static during my time,” he admitted.
“I like how he moves; he has everything to cover this role. He’s not an attacking midfielder for the final pass, but he’s one for late runs inside the box.”
