Star defender Alessandro Bastoni has revealed the secret ingredient behind Inter Milan’s vast success in recent years.

During an interview with Rai Sport via FCInterNews, Bastoni underlined Inter’s never-ending thirst for winning.

Asked whether the Nerazzurri want to win a quadruple this season, he replied: “That’s our goal, no doubt.

“If others prove to be better, we’ll shake their hands, but we step onto the pitch every match to win and play our game.”

Bastoni has won two Serie A titles with Inter and helped them reach the UEFA Champions League final in 2023.

However, the 25-year-old is reluctant to rest on his laurels.

Despite being among the youngest players in the squad, Bastoni is leading by example.

Recalling the pinnacle moment of 2024, he singled out the derby win against AC Milan in April.

Inter squeezed past the Rossoneri 2-1 to claim a landmark 20th Scudetto.

“The final derby,” Bastoni admitted. “That was the peak of my career because it was an incredible moment.

“And it was beautiful to share the greatness of that season with the fans for nearly an entire month.”

“People always talk about the importance of the group, and it might sound repetitive,” he started. “But if you want to achieve your goals, it’s crucial to get along with your teammates.

“Being there when someone makes a mistake, not throwing up your arms or complaining like we used to do in the early Inter years – these things matter.

“We’ve improved in that regard and gained a lot of experience because now we have a solid group that has been wearing this jersey for six years.

“We know what it means, and I think that’s the secret.”

Bastoni also opened up on his relationship with Simone Inzaghi.

“It’s like he’s a player himself,” he stated. “He has built a great relationship with everyone.

“There’s, of course, the necessary professional distance between players and the coach.

“The truth is, there’s a lot of mutual respect, and he makes everyone feel like part of the group.

“That’s his greatest quality.”
