Eden Hazard, the star striker from Belgium, shifted base to Real Madrid after the conclusion of the 2018-19 Premier League season. His departure seems to have left a few cracks in Chelsea’s armor. It goes without saying that Eden Hazard was the heart and soul of Chelsea’s forward line.
However, after his departure, two young English players have grasped this opportunity with open hands and made a real impact on the squad. Tammy Abraham was brought back into the side after the conclusion of his loan deal with Aston Villa. He has got off to a positive start this summer. The 21-year-old has scored seven goals thus far in the 2019-20 season of the Premier League thus far.
Along with Tammy, Mason Mount has had a crucial role to play as well. The attacking midfielder has been crucial aspect of Chelsea’s attacks and more often than not, play goes through him. If you look at Chelsea’s squad, you will realize that the club has some more promising young names in its ranks – Reece James, Fikayo Tomori etc.

But, there seems to be a problem. Tammy Abraham isn’t getting ample support from other strikers. Others have struggled to go past the oppositions’ defence lines. Michy Batshuayi, the lad from Belgium, is struggling with injuries. It is because of injuries that the 25-year-old has gone down the pecking order in recent times. Batshuayi hasn’t been able to cement his place in the side since being roped in by the Blues in 2016. Tammy Abraham is being preferred over Batshuayi owing to better fitness.
Batyuashi’s talent has never been in question. The Belgian was roped into the side after enjoying a couple of successful seasons with French club Marseille. In 62 matches for the club, Batshuayi scored 26 goals. At Chelsea, he doesn’t seem to be getting enough opportunities. Take this for an example: he has started only 4 League games for Chelsea since his move back in 2016. Since then he has been loaned out to Borussia Dortmund, Valencia, and Crystal Palace. Despite his prolonged absence from the club, Lampard doesn’t want him to shift base.
Here are two areas of the game Batshuayi needs to work on in order to earn back his place.
Well, that happens to be the most important factor. Injuries have plagued Batshuayi’s progress ever since he arrived at Stamford Bridge. Frank Lampard has been working proactively with the 25-year-old. Also, he needs to work on his speed. Being a striker, he needs to work hard off the ball as the Blues want to win back the ball high up the pitch. All of this would take time. Both Batshuayi and Lampard need to be patient.
If the Blues want Batshuayi to unlock his potential, then they need to provide him with an opportunity to play his natural game. Aggression is something that comes rather naturally to him. He needs to play his natural game if he wants to make his presence felt. If you wish to catch him in action this September, then get your match tickets booked by getting in touch with a reliable hospitality company.
