It has been a similar sorry tale for Tanguy Ndombélé (28), who, after a strong start to life at OGC Nice, has been struck down with injury.
Ndombélé, as revealed by Franck Haise several weeks ago, is suffering with a pubalgia issue, which has been recurring for a number of months. The midfielder first evoked the ongoing issue right at the start of 2025. The Frenchman even saw a surgeon earlier in the year in order to evoke the possibility of surgery. It was decided at the time that surgery was not necessary.
The Frenchman has been training but away from the group in recent weeks. There have been no positive advancements and Franck Haise is pessimistic regarding the midfielder’s chances of featuring again this season. “He has had very little training. It is hard to get back to a good level. There are five matches until the end of the season [after the game against Strasbourg]. I don’t see how he could turn it around,” admitted the Nice manager.
Haise even added that the hypothesis of an operation, previously disregarded following consultation with a specialist, may be on the table once again. “It is up to him to make the decision, not me,” said Haise. Ndombélé’s season looks to be over and with the possibility of another operation, there are now more long-term fitness concerns to contend with.
