Southampton's recent Anfield trip could have ended much worse than we expected. Thankfully it didn't as boss Juric shares a relieving update on Saints backline leader Jan Bednarek.
You would agree with this, at other English clubs, there exist repetitive success patterns, but at Southampton, it's the opposite. Here, setbacks follow the same old script.
Remember, Captain Jack Stephens' return injury or Jan Bednarek's sub-off from weeks ago? Shockingly, in both instances, it was a Saints defensive leader taken off due to an early injury.
Now, if you watched the recent Southampton Vs Liverpool clash, you would know where this is heading towards.
In the initial minutes of the fixture, once again, it was regular stalwart Jan Bednarek who faced an injury concern.
So what happened was that attempting a physical duel, Saints stars Ryan Manning and Bednarek clashed in the 20th minute. Though the former could continue, the Polish leader was forced off at the next minute.
Ultimately, it was yet another Saints embarrassment, which might have been avoided if not for Bednarek's concussion absence.
Still, currently, every Southampton fan must be thanking their fate for what has followed. This is because as per boss Juric, Bednarek will be back for the next game without much concerns.
Recently, as quoted by the Daily Echo, Juric updated on Bednarek's situation, saying: "They told me there is a six-day rule but he will be ready for the next game. We will see tomorrow how he is.
Relieved, right? Well, you should be given what Bednarek's presence means for Southampton on and off the field.
Know an interesting tally? In Bednarek's availability, the Saints are yet to concede in over 3 weeks now. Though the defender has missed major game action lately, still this captures his dominance perfectly.
Up next, Southampton faces an inconsistent Wolves side, with Bednarek certain to start. If the defender completes the fixture, maybe a third season win is on the cards for the Saints.
