The winter break is going to be dominated by contract talks for Bayern Munich. The Bavarian club is looking to keep the core of the squad intact and give Vincent Kompany a solid base to achieve sustained success.

Jamal Musiala is very likely to extend his contract at FC Bayern but it may not happen anytime soon. As Florian Plettenberg of SkySports reports, there are still a few details left to iron out between the club and the player's management. As of now, the two parties don’t have a full agreement to extend Jamal Musiala’s Bayern contract beyond 2026.

The terms of the contract that are still in dispute include salary, contract length, and the inclusion of an exit/release clause.

Musiala is expected to receive a significant salary increase, making him one of the top earners in the squad. Bayern are reportedly set to offer him a deal worth up to €120 million for a contract extension until 2029. However, the inclusion of a release clause is highly unlikely, as Bayern typically maintains a strong stance on player contracts, ensuring that the terms remain under their control without automatic release clauses.

FC Bayern aim to reach an agreement by January 2025. They expect Musiala’s camp to make some compromises from their side which can be considered as a reasonable ask since Musiala himself wants an extension.

Musiala keen to extend contract

Jamal Musiala is keen on signing a contract extension. Speaking on his future, he had previously stated that he would like to shape an era at Bayern Munich. The 21-year-old also expressed his desire to compete for the biggest collective and individual honors at FC Bayern. Hence it’s only a matter of time before the minor sticking points in the negotiations get resolved and the extension is publicly announced.

The attacking midfielder has been enjoying life under Vincent Kompany this season and it is strongly reflected in his stats. The 21-year-old has 14 goals and 5 assists to his name in all competitions, already having surpassed his previous season’s goal tally (12 goals). His abilities have gone up a few notches this season; with significant improvements in passing, defending, and heading the ball. He is on track to becoming as complete of an attacking midfielder as one can be. Musiala is an invaluable asset in Bayern's attack, and with his imminent contract extension, he is set to remain a key figure for the club in the years to come.

Aside from Musiala, the club has also indicated their desire to renew the contracts of Alphonso Davies and Joshua Kimmich, both of whom are currently in the last year of their Bayern contracts. The club plans to make significant progress on these extensions during the winter break and try to reach an agreement with the players as soon as possible.
