German record champions Bayern Munich hope of advancing in the 2024/25 Champions League tomorrow as the Bundesliga leaders prepare to welcome Celtic to the Allianz Arena, six days after a 2-1 win in the first leg. There nevertheless remains the matter of recent form after Bayern put in by far their worst league performance of the season against defending champions Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

German phenom Jamal Musiala – perhaps more so than any other FCB player – looked totally lost tactically in the 0-0 draw against Xabi Alonso’s Werkself. As always, however, the 21-year-old showed maturity and class in reflecting on the “off day”. The new Bayern long-term signing spoke alongside head coach Vincent Kompany at the official UCL pre-match presser at Säbener Straße.

I know we haven’t experienced a game like that this season,” Musiala said, “But that can be a good thing. We can learn from it. On top of that, even if we didn’t have a good day, we didn’t lose.

It speaks to our spirit that we were able to keep a clean sheet,” Musiala continued. “That’s something one needs in order to progress. [Tomorrow], we’re in for a tough game, but were not in the mood to make excuses.
