Hot on the heels of Alistair Johnston’s contract extension, the club this morning announced that James Forrest had also extended his stay until the summer of 2026.
That is yet more good news, and like Alistair, James greatly deserves his new deal.
James may be approaching the end of his career, and he will be 35 when his new deal runs out, but he’s a vital figure for us both on and off the park.
James has a wealth of experience, and more importantly, he can still contribute on the field, something that Brendan Rodgers recognises or he wouldn’t have sanctioned a new deal for the player.

This news also means that James could well indeed finish his career as the most decorated Celt of all time.
He’s currently one honour away from equaling Bobby Lennox’s tally of 25, and with a league cup final looming and the realistic chance of two other trophies on offer this campaign, James could very well become the most decorated player in the history of Celtic Football Club when this campaign comes to a close.
A further year will give him more opportunity to further eclipse that number, and what an achievement that would be for James.
