Javier ‘Chofis’ López has spoken about his enforced departure from Chivas.
The 26-year-old attacker is currently on loan at San Jose Earthquakes, but the Flock have made it clear that there is no way back for him.
López was one of four players disciplined after attending a party in October of last year at which Dieter Villalpando was accused of sexual assault.
In an interview with TUDN, López talked about the differences between Liga MX and Major League Soccer, describing the latter as faster and more physical.
However, he was also inevitably drawn on his time in Guadalajara.
“Obviously I miss, and I’m going to miss things about Chivas,” the Torreón native said.
“It is the team that gave me the opportunity to be a good footballer, and I will always be grateful,” he added.
López has become a regular under former Chivas boss Matías Almeyda in California.
He has made 16 league appearances this season, scoring three times and providing one assist (via Transfermarkt).
