Jean-Claude Blanc has officially stepped down from his position as a director at Manchester United, as confirmed by a recent filing with Companies House.
Blanc, who serves a the chief executive of INEOS Sport, took over as interim CEO of United from Patrick Stewart following the completion of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s investment in the club last year.
He had spells at Juvetus and Paris Saint-Germain, where he cemented his status as one of football’s best backroom operators.
A notable achievement at Juventus, where he was a board member before becoming CEO, was securing funding for the development of the Allianz Stadium, which was Italy’s first stadium construction since 1990 and became the first privately-owned facility among Italian football clubs.
Blanc spent 12 years at PSG, playing a crucial role in turning the Ligue 1 outfit into the commercial giants they are today under the ownership of Qatar Sports Investments (QSI).
Blanc parted ways with PSG to oversee INEOS’ sports investments, including OGC Nice and Lausanne Sport.
He played a key role in Ratcliffe’s minority takeover of United and helped advise and restructure the club’s management and footballing decisions.
Omar Berrada’s arrival in July 2024 marked the end of Blanc’s spell as interim CEO and now, it has been confirmed that the Frenchman has stepped away as director of United per UK Companies House.
The form can be seen in the X post below.
As noted by the Muppetiers, no information has been provided thus far regarding the reasons behind Blanc’s departure. It is understood that his involvement with United was relatively limited.
He becomes the latest high-ranking United executive to leave after Dan Ashworth, who was axed in December.
Ashworth was United’s maiden sporting director but only lasted five months in the role before he was let go. It later emerged that Ashworth didn’t see eye to eye with some members of the club’s hierarchy, including Ratcliffe himself.
