Former Olympique Lyonnais president Jean-Michel Aulas is in favour of Juninho’s touted return to the club, he announced on X (formerly Twitter).
As revealed by L’Équipe on Friday night, John Textor wants to bring Juninho back to the club. The Brazilian was a player for OL between 2001-2009 and was also sporting director between (2019-21). Juninho left Les Gones in 2021 amidst disagreements with other members of the club’s hierarchy.
However, amidst a restructuring of the club, with figures such as Santiago Cucci and Vincent Ponsot on their way out of the club, owner John Textor is looking to bring in new people that he can trust. The American owner wants to bring in a special adviser with a wide remit, which would allow them to work between Brazil, where another club within the Eagle Football family, Botafogo, are based, and Europe. Juninho fits the bill, according to L’Équipe.
Aulas, OL’s former President, has said he would support Juninho’s rumoured return to the Groupama Stadium during an exchange with a fan on X. “If it is confirmed, it is a great initiative and we will have to envisage a solution to allow Juninho to have the operational powers that he wishes,” said Aulas.
