Jeff Stelling has questioned whether Pedro Neto is already regretting his decision to swap Wolves for Chelsea this summer.

Neto was Chelsea’s most expensive summer signing as the Blues paid an initial £51.4m for the Portugal international, with the deal seemingly coming out of nowhere.

The 24-year-old is a proven quantity in the Premier League and gives Chelsea another brilliant option in attack and offers the added bonus of being able to play on both the left and right wings.

Stelling shares thoughts on Neto

It’s been a slow start to life at Stamford Bridge for Neto and in his first Premier League start against Bournemouth he was substituted at half time.

Maresca stated that he sees Neto competing with Noni Madueke for a place on the right wing, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be seen playing elsewhere.

Neto has been a regular on the bench so far this season and he will be looking to force his way into Maresca’s starting line-up on a more regular basis.

The Carabao Cup tie against Barrow on Tuesday evening represents a good opportunity for Neto to start and make a positive impact.

The former Wolves man is still building up his match fitness having not played 90 minutes since February and he’s still waiting to complete his first full game for the Blues.

Neto is in the infancy of his Chelsea career but Stelling has already questioned whether he might be regretting making the move.

“I mentioned Pedro Neto, I just wonder if he is regretting in any way shape or form his move because he can’t get a start at Chelsea,” he told talkSPORT as quoted by The Chelsea Chronicle.

“You do want to see him on the football pitch because he has had so many injuries over the years, he has played so little football.”

Chelsea are facing potentially the longest season in their history and there will be plenty of opportunity for Neto to impress, and it’s unlikely after just five games he’s regretting making the move.
