The United States cruised past St. Kitts & Nevis to pick up their first win in Gold Cup Group A.
Scorers: Mihailović 12′, Reynolds 14′, Ferreira 16′, 25′ 50′
As expected, the United States dominated the ball in the opening minutes, and it did not take long for the tournament favorites to find their opening goal.
After a scramble in the box, Đorđe Mihailović was waiting to pounce and stabbed home the American’s first of the night, and his first international goal since 2019.
It quickly went from bad to worse for the underdogs St. Kitts & Nevis, as Bryan Reynolds leathered home a low, driven effort from outside of the box to double the American’s lead.
Two more goals from Jesus Ferreira capped off a thoroughly dominant opening half from the United States, as they all but wrapped up their first win in the tournament this year.
Ferreira secured his hat-trick from close-range shortly after the restart, and a late Mihailović goal put the icing on cake for the USA’s joint highest Gold Cup win.
