Rangers have announced that Patrick Stewart has been appointed as their new Chief Executive Officer.

The former Manchester United chief has replaced James Bisgrove, who left for Saudi Pro League club Al-Qadsiah in May.

The Scottish Premiership club reportedly made significant progress in their search for a permanent new chief executive earlier this month.

Stewart is set to take up the role on December 16 – a day after Rangers face Celtic in the League Cup final.

Veteran broadcaster Jim White has now taken to social media platform X to share what he has been told about the new CEO.

The five-month search of Rangers for a new CEO has finally ended, and they will be glad they got it done before their Annual General Meeting later this year.

St Mirren vice-chairman Jim Gillespie looked set to be named the new Rangers CEO. However, the move fell through, with chairman John Bennett initially filling the role before stepping down on health grounds.

Having spent 18 years at Man United and recently working as their interim CEO, Stewart brings much-needed experience to the table at Ibrox.

The former lawyer will be looking to help make Rangers a force to be reckoned with in Scotland and Europe again, and he has a huge job on his hands.

The Light Blues have started 2024-25 disappointingly under manager Philippe Clement, with 11 points separating them from league leaders Celtic and eight points between them and second-placed Aberdeen.
