Manchester United have been woeful in front of goal all season, with Rasmus Hojlund’s form giving Ruben Amorim sleepless nights.
The 22-year-old has four goals in 35 domestic games this term, and another six in the Europa League, not what the head coach was hoping for when INEOS decided not to strengthen up top in January.
The Portuguese is not at all convinced with his No 9 and wants him gone in the summer, but INEOS are aware that they will not be able to recoup the initial £64 million they spent in 2023.
Which is why they could be open to a loan exit with Juventus among the teams interested. And now, as per Turkish outlet Sozcu, Fenerbahce are also eyeing the Dane.
Jose Mourinho is expected to fall short in his endeavor to topple Galatasaray from the top of the Turkish league, and he is eyeing serious reinforcements once the summer window opens.
The former United manager has decided to let go of 39-year-old Edin Dzeko, Youssef En-Nesyri and Cenk Tosun and will look to replace them with two brand-new striker signings, one of which will be the Denmark international.
As per the report, Fener will propose a loan offer with an option to buy but there is no mention of an amount in the article.
“Fenerbahçe management is preparing to make a radical change in the forward line in the new season. The yellow-navy team is planning to part ways with 39-year-old Dzeko, whose contract will expire, as well as En Nesyri and Cenk Tosun.
“The Canaries, who will transfer at least two star strikers, aim to add Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United to the squad. The first offer will be a loan with an option to buy.”
The Red Devils have plans of strengthening of their own with Liam Delap seemingly the preferred choice to come in as a striker while Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Antoine Semenyo have also been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
The trio can all play up front on their own if needed, while they mainly excel as attacking midfielders.
Plenty of pundits have opined that given Amorim’s need for immediate improvement, Victor Osimhen or Viktor Gyokeres are much better suited to their needs than the Ipswich Town man.
It will be intriguing to see if Europa League success ultimately changes the co-owners’ mind and United actually go for a proven performer instead of recruiting based on potential again.
