Joshua Kimmich set for three Germany milestones | OneFootball

When Germany host Bosnia and Herzegovina in the UEFA Nations League on Saturday, Joshua Kimmich is set for three milestones in the Nationalelf.

Should Kimmich (29) play in Freiburg, the Bayern Munich player will become Germany’s leading appearance maker in the tournament with 17 games, surpassing Tottenham Hotspur’s Timo Werner.

Not only that, Kimmich’s appearance on Saturday will be his 96th in a Germany shirt, which moves him above legends Sepp Maier and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (95 games) – he will also move up to 15th in all-time appearances alongside Berti Vogts.

A place in the top 10 isn’t far off either – Kimmich would need 105 appearances, which would match 1990 World Cup winner Jürgen Kohler.

Finally, should Kimmich start as captain, which is extremely likely, he would match Bastian Schweinsteiger (13 games) for times leading the Nationalelf onto the pitch.

Kimmich was absent for Julian Nagelsmann’s first two games in charge of the German national team but featured in midfield for the defeats against Turkey and Austria in November 2023.

The Bayern star has since played every game for the national team under Nagelsmann, but in a right-back role.
