Armando Broja will stay at Everton for the time being, but Chelsea could change their mind.

That is according to journalist Alan Myers, who has shared the latest information he has received on the future of Broja on X.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that he has been told that Broja will stay at Everton and continue to recover from injury.

The 23-year-old joined Everton on a season-long loan deal from Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer of 2024.

The Toffees have the option to make the loan deal permanent for the Albania international striker in the summer of 2025.

Broja has failed to make a massive impact at Goodison Park due to his injury problems.

The youngster has made two starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League and has played once in the FA Cup.

With Everton unable to sign any more domestic players on a loan deal due to Broja being in their squad, there have been suggestions that the Toffees and Chelsea have been in talks over a termination of the deal involving the striker.

However, Myers has claimed that the plan is for Broja, who impressed Sean Dyche in training, to stay at David Moyes’s side, but Chelsea could change their mind in the final days of the January transfer window.

Myers wrote: “I’m told Armando Broja will stay at Everton to continue his recovery from injury.”

The reporter added: “It’s important to remember that his parent club has to agree to this, there is nine days to go things can change.”

View: Everton should not have signed Armando Broja

It is unfortunate that Broja has been injured, but you wonder whether the striker would have been able to make a huge difference had he been fit and available.

The striker has not been able to much of note since he scored six goals in 21 starts and 11 substitute appearances during his loan spell at Southampton in the 2021-22 season.

Broja has had injury problems in recent times, and when fit and available, he has not been too impressive.

Everton should have signed a better, more mature and more prolific striker last summer.
