Aberdeen might be finding targets that new boss Jimmy Thelin has identified to be too expensive or unwilling to come, it has been suggested.

Thelin has made an impressive start to life as Aberdeen boss and the Dons won their Scottish Premiership opener against St Johnstone on Monday night.

He has now become the first Aberdeen manager to win his first five games in charge of the club.

Transfer activity has been quiet though and Thelin has indicated that no deals are close for now.

Given the boss has effectively had the position for several months, giving him ample time to plan, some eyebrows have been raised.

Journalist Chris Harvey thinks that only one or two explanations are on the table.

He wrote on X: “There’s absolutely no chance Thelin has not immediately identified players he wants or wanted in.

“He agreed to join in April so you have to assume those targets have declined or too rich for AFC at this moment.”

The situation, he suggested, could change at the end of the Scandinavian seasons, though that would mean having to wait until the January transfer window.

“It could be more value had at end of Scandinavian seasons.”

Aberdeen are having to deal with serious interest in attacker Bojan Miovski at present, with the Dons having slapped a £6.5m asking price on his head.
