Journalist shares surprising update on future of Vinicius and Rodrygo at Real Madrid | OneFootball

As the season reaches its most decisive stage, top clubs across Europe are already laying the groundwork for the next campaign.

Real Madrid are no exception, with discussions surrounding the futures of Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo becoming a major talking point in recent weeks.

Amid the speculation, journalist Jose Felix Diaz has provided fresh insight into the situation of both Brazilian forwards.

Update on their future

During an appearance on Ruben Martin’s Twitch channel (h/t Defensa Central), Diaz was firm in his assessment of the matter.

He made it clear that there is no uncertainty regarding Rodrygo’s place in the squad. The young attacker has eliminated any lingering doubts about his future, and Real Madrid has no intention of letting him go.

On the other hand, the same level of certainty does not seem to apply to Vinicius, whose situation remains more complex.

“Rodrygo has cleared up any doubts, and Madrid has none either. He’ll stay. But there are others, like Vinicius, who do need to clear up their doubts,” he said.

The journalist pointed out that clarity regarding Vinicius’s future will only emerge in the summer. He is not unhappy at Real Madrid, but his long-term position at the club is not as settled as Rodrygo’s.

“We’ll know what will happen with Vinicius in the summer. There’s a pending renewal. His agent will come, and we’ll see how this all turns out. Vinicius isn’t uncomfortable at Real Madrid,” he added.

Meanwhile, Rodrygo is a key part of Real Madrid’s plans for the 2025-26 season. While last summer brought a wave of speculation, there will be no such uncertainty this time.

“While the door to uncertainty was opened last summer, none of that will happen this time. There’s no room for that:  Rodrygo will be a vital part of Real Madrid’s 25-26 project. Not everyone can say the same thing.”

The Saudi links

Adding another layer to the discussion, reports suggest that Saudi Arabian clubs are prepared to make a serious push to lure Vinicius away from the Santiago Bernabeu.

At this moment, however, Real Madrid remain calm about the situation. The Brazilian winger is under contract until 2027, which gives the club significant control over his immediate future.

For now, Rodrygo’s role in the team is secure, while Vinicius’s future could become clearer in the coming months.

How the renewal talks unfold will determine whether he continues to be a long-term figure at Real Madrid or if new possibilities arise elsewhere.
