Journo rejoices at his club missing out on Man Utd star, he’d have caused more problems than he solved

A turbulent campaign at Old Trafford has left Manchester United supporters mulling over the futures of players they previously considered off-limits.
Alejandro Garnacho, for example, became something of a fan-favourite when he burst onto the scene under Erik ten Hag, with his lively performances proving to be a breath of fresh air for those watching on from the stands.
To see a young player so desperate to make his mark and establish himself as a concrete option for the manager was refreshing to see amid such uncertain times, especially given that he’d come directly from the academy – albeit an ex-Atletico Madrid prospect prior to his move to England in 2020.
Now more accustomed with the top flight and its demands, Garnacho has had to adjust his approach to a more calculated practice, at times frustrating fans when passing the ball backwards or slowing down an attack.

In the winter window, he was the subject of a rejected £40 million bid from Napoli, with United unwilling to sanction their forward’s exit for such a fee.
Yet, it seems as though the general opinion in Naples is that the club got off lucky with their failed attempt. Garnacho has yet to add to his goal tally since the sides were locked in talks, and came under fire last week when he walked straight down the tunnel following his early substitution against Ipswich Town.
Ruben Amorim confirmed after the game that he’d speak with the 20-year-old about the incident before assuring reporters in his pre-Fulham press conference that the matter had been put to bed.
Journalist Antonio Corbo said (via AreaNapoli): “There is no replacement for [Khvicha] Kvaratskhelia, but how could there be? It was urgent to sell him to avoid a joke. Luckily there is no Garnacho, [Aurelio] De Laurentiis, [Andrea] Chiavelli and [Giovanni] Manna can boast [about not signing Garnacho] today.
“Between substitutions and disagreements, the very expensive Argentine, suggested by interested Italian sources, is the cross [annoyance] of Manchester United.”
