Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio is once again at the eye of the storm, as the court case against him moved forward on Wednesday. Asencio is alleged to have shared sexual content without permission of the two women involved, one of which was 16 at the time.

On Wednesday, it was communicated by the High Court of Justice in the Canary Islands that their investigation into Asencio and three other former Real Madrid academy talents Ferran Ruiz, Juan Dominguez and Andres Garcia had concluded. They are accused of allegedly recording and sharing sexual content without consent (the former does not apply to Asencio), and alleged distribution of child pornography, on account of one of the two victims being 16. The other woman involved was 18, and both have presented symptoms of post-traumatic stress since, as the edict read.

What is Raul Asencio accused of?

The court edict, which was put together by the investigating magistrate, also explained what each player was accused of, as explained by Canarias7 (via Marca). Despite Asencio’s lack of concern on the matter, the magistrate believes there is evidence to suggest that he requested the video that Rodriguez send him the video, knowing that one of victims was underage, and “knowing that it [the video] had been obtained without the consent of the potential victims and retained against their demand that it be erased.”

Secondly, the edict alleges that having received the video on his phone on the 21st of June 2023, Asencio then proceeded to show it to a third person, who is listed as a witness in the case. The incident occurred on the 15th of June at a beach club in Amadores, on Gran Canaria, with the accused in question 20 and 21.

Asencio’s response to the case

Asencio posted a message on his social media in the aftermath of the court edict being released, having played for Real Madrid just hours later against RCD Mallorca. Previously Asencio has noted that he is ‘calm’ about the matter, as he has a clear conscience about his actions.
