Real Madrid could be handed a significant injury boost heading into Wednesday night’s UEFA Champions League match against LOSC Lille.

Indeed, after Kylian Mbappe was named in the squad list for the trip to Stade Pierre-Mauroy, Guillermo Rai of The Athletic now reports that the 25-year-old could indeed return from injury against the Ligue 1 outfit.

Mbappe suffered a thigh injury last week when Real Madrid faced Deportivo Alaves in midweek and as such ended up missing the derby against Atletico Madrid yesterday.

The initial prognosis was that the summer signing would be out for around three weeks, putting his return to action after the international break.

However, as per the aforementioned report, the feelings surrounding Mbappe’s fitness condition are very positive and in fact, the attacker will take part in the group training session tomorrow.

If nothing goes wrong, there is every chance that Mbappe will be able to return to action against Lille, even though he will be unable to start the match.

A source from the club told The Athletic: “If the green light is given, he won’t be available for the entire match, but it wouldn’t be out of the question that he could play for a while. In addition, he wants to support his team in his homeland. He’s a special boy.”

It will be a special occasion for Mbappe as the match against Lille will see him square off against his younger brother, Ethan.

As such, it is understandable that the 25-year-old is eager to prove his fitness and make himself available on his return to France.
