Arsenal v Juventus

Scorers: Xhaka (OG) 45+1′, Holding (OG) 90+1′

Juventus edged Arsenal 2-0 on Saturday night to win their friendly match in north London.

It was the Italian side who took the lead in this prestige friendly with Granit Xhaka putting one into his own net right on the stroke of half time.

Mikel Arteta’s side were much-improved in the second half and were knocking on the door for an equaliser, but struggled to show their class in the final third.

The Gunners made a host of changes midway through the half as they looked to give some experience to a few youngsters but it was veteran Rob Holding who scored a second own goal to hand the Serie A side a win

Manchester City v Girona

Scorers: De Bruyne 4′, Haaland 18′

Manchester City proved too much for Girona as Pep Guardiola’s side scored twice in the first half for an easy win.

Manchester City opened the scoring after just four minutes when Kevin De Bruyne intercepted a stray pass and made Grino pay with a tidy finish into the back of the net.

De Bruyne turned assist man not long afterwards, feeding in a fit again Erling Haaland inside the box for the Norwegian to slot home.

Girona almost pulled a goal back in the second half as Valery Fernandez’s effort crashed back off the bar.

Fulham v West Ham

Scorers: Carlos Vinícius 43′; Bowen 62′

Fulham and West Ham played out a 1-1 draw on Saturday at a freezing Craven Cottage.

In this all-Premier League friendly it was Fulham who took the lead just before half-time as Carlos Vinicius showed his class with a neat finish.

After the break West Ham pulled one back as Jarrod Bowen pounced inside the area to get an equaliser.

Newcastle v Rayo Vallecano

Scorers: Longstaff 4′, Wood (PEN) 67′; Targett (OG) 75′

Newcastle beat Rayo Vallecano, and the north east cold, to secure a 2-1 victory in their final match before Premier League duties resume.

The Magpies took the lead when Jacob Murphy played the ball inside to Sean Longstaff, who thrashed the ball into the roof of the net.

In the second half Eddie Howe’s side doubled their lead as Chris Wood netted from the penalty spot.

Rayo managed to pull one back with 15 minutes to go as Matty Targett put the ball into his own net to set up an exciting finish.
