Juventus had hoped to negotiate a loan with obligation to buy for Georgiy Sudakov, but it’s reported he has extended his Shakhtar Donetsk contract, so turn to Udinese’s Roberto Pereyra instead.

The Bianconeri are looking for an attacking midfielder in the January transfer window, but are eager to keep costs at a minimum.

La Gazzetta dello Sport had suggested that an intriguing alternative was Sudakov, on loan with an option to buy that becomes an obligation if they qualify for the Champions League.

However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims this evening that Sudakov has agreed a new contract with Shakhtar Donetsk that has a release clause worth €100m.

That effectively cuts Juve out, but also Torino, who had been interested in a loan for the 21-year-old Ukraine international over the last few weeks.

Instead, Sky Sport Italia report that Juventus are in talks with Udinese for Pereyra.

This would be a comeback to the Bianconeri, as Tucu played here from 2014 to 2016.

His contract with Udinese only runs to the end of the season, but the 33-year-old still contributed three goals and three assists in 18 Serie A appearances.

New deal will be valid until June 2029. January 30, 2024
