At the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Juventus bounced back from their midweek defeat to Parma by beating rock-bottom Monza. Nicolas Gonzalez stunned Stefano Turati with a sensational long-range effort to break the deadlock early on. Randal Kolo Muani then doubled the Old Lady’s lead from a swift counterattack. Just before half-time, Kenan Yildiz got himself sent off by elbowing Alessandro Bianco in an off-the-ball incident, but the Bianconeri managed to maintain their two-goal cushion despite their numerical disadvantage. So here are our player ratings for Juventus who secured a timely 2-0 over their visitors Monza.

Juventus (3-4-2-1)

Michele Di Gregorio – 6

The Italian custodian had a relatively quiet evening against his former employers. His improved positioning allowed him to pull off easy saves.

Pierre Kalulu – 6.5

The French defender did well to limit Gianluca Caprari’s danger, and he never seemed to be in trouble.

Renato Veiga – 7

The young Portuguese marshalled the backline with confidence and composure beyond his age. Produced a plethora of interceptions in the air and suicidally blocked Caprari’s powerful shot with his head. He also got an assist to his name.

Lloyd Kelly – 5.5

The Englishman has yet to fully convince, as he had a few nervy moments, including one where he found himself on the wrong side of Dany Mota who was heading goalwards.

Weston McKennie – 6

The American never fails to put up a hardworking shift. Started the evening on the right flank before switching to the middle in the second half.

Manuel Locatelli – 6.5

The Juventus captain helped his teammates maintain serenity with his smooth operator demeanor and made sure the defensive lines were never lacking in personnel.

Khephren Thuram – 7

The French midfielder was highly influential in the first half. Drove the ball from his own half of the pitch towards the Monza box before setting up Kolo Muani’s second goal with a clever assist. Left in the second half after picking up a knock.

Andrea Cambiaso – 5.5

The Italy international might still be struggling from ankle issues, or at least that’s the best way to explain his uninspiring form as of late.

Nicolas Gonzalez – 7

The Argentine opened the scoring with a fabulous strike from long range which perfectly crept into the bottom corner, He should have completed his brace in the second half, but couldn’t beat Turati from close range.

Kenan Yildiz – 4

The teenager had a decent first half, as he was the one who instigated the second Juventus goal by regaining possession in his own half. However, he lost his head just before half-time as he elbowed Alessandro Bianco, thus leaving his teammates a man down for an entire half.

Randal Kolo Muani – 7.5

The PSG loanee was eager to make a statement after a rough patch. He missed a few opportunities at first, but showcased his clinical touch by scoring the second for Juventus. Set up Gonzalez with a cheeky pass that the latter should have buried home.

Substitutes

Nicolò Savona – 6

The young right-back never ventured forward as he had clear instructions to stay at the back and shut down Monza’s left flank.

Timothy Weah – 5.5

Like Savona, the versatile Juventus star was only brought in to add energy and depth to the backline, so we seldom saw him in possession.
