Juventus have no more doubts about Francisco Conceiçao and are ready to acquire him permanently, removing any uncertainty about his future. The winger joined on loan as the Bianconeri didn’t have the budget to purchase him last summer. Still, they always envisioned him staying for the long haul, La Gazzetta dello Sport relayed.
The Portuguese attacker has taken advantage of Nicolas Gonzalez’s injury woes to become indispensable. He has tallied two goals and four assists so far. He’s been routinely their main reference point and the most menacing guy up front.
Juventus don’t have a proper option to buy Conceiçao, but his valuation is set by a €30M release clause that will come into effect in July. The Old Lady plans to pull the trigger in December already. They paid €7M, wages included, to bring him in temporarily. They reached a gentleman’s agreement with Porto orchestrated by his agent Jorge Mendes.
The Turin outfit initially plotted to purchase the soon-to-be 22-year-old during the spring, but his recent performances have completely won them over. He had personally stated that he anticipated sticking around for longer than the initial loan.
He’s been brilliant beyond expectations, and keeping him is a no-brainer. Activating the release clause next summer was probably always a no-go due to its generally strict payment structure. Perhaps they sense other sides could swoop in and be a threat, as it’s a little odd that they are willing to splurge now when they reportedly have trouble finding the money to foot their January signings. Perhaps Porto will be generous with installments and whatnot since they are getting the full price.
