Sportitalia has assembled an XI of players Thiago Motta and Juventus snubbed over the summer, including Wojciech Szczęsny, Federico Chiesa, Moise Kean and Dean Huijsen.

Juventus director Giuntoli is under increasing pressure at the Allianz Stadium following Thiago Motta’s dismissal.

Sacking the ex-Italy international will cost the Bianconeri around €15m, while many of the new players Giuntoli signed over the summer have failed to match expectations.

Other ex-Juventus players are shining elsewhere, and Sportitalia has put together a team of players that Motta and Giuntoli didn’t consider suited to their project.

The biggest regrets are probably in attack and defence. Kean, a product of the club’s academy, is the second-best Serie A scorer this season with 15 goals in 26 matches.

Last season, he failed to score a single goal for Juve, so the Bianconeri sold him over the summer when he had just one year left on his contract.

Likewise, Huijsen is shining at Bournemouth in the Premier League and has recently made his senior Spain debut, reportedly attracting interest from Real Madrid. The ex-Roma loanee left Juventus for €15.2m plus a maximum of €3m in bonuses last summer.

Sportitalia even included Adrien Rabiot in the XI even though Juventus had offered the France international a contract extension, so he was not exactly out of Motta’s project.

The same can’t be said for Chiesa and Matias Soulé, who, however, are both struggling for playing time at Liverpool and Roma.

On the other hand, Szczesny came out of retirement and is contributing to Barcelona’s positive results in LaLiga and the Champions League, having kept eight clean sheets in 16 matches across all competitions.
