Juventus Track Udinese Defender as a Fallback Target

Milan Skiniar tops the Juventus shortlist to replace the injured Gleison Bremer in January, but coming to terms with PSG won’t be easy even though the player would like to leave to get more minutes. The Bianconeri only want him on loan and with the French side heavily contributing to his €10M wages, La Gazzetta dello Sport relays.

Given the obstacles, the Old Lady continues to scour the market. In addition to Ardian Ismajli, they have laid eyes on Jaka Bijol, who’s in Inter’s crosshairs for the future. Udinese signaled that they would keep him until the end of the season.

Juventus won’t have a large budget in January, so they can at most concoct a loan with an obligation to buy. It remains to be seen whether the Friulani would be willing to play ball. Moreover, the Slovenian defender has a robust valuation. In addition, he doesn’t totally fit the profile of the center-backs Thiago Motta likes the most.

After locking down the opponents repeatedly at the start of the season, the Bianconeri have allowed eight goals since Bremer went down.

Our Take on Juventus and Bijol

First of all, while Motta wants even the defender to be adequate ball handlers, he shouldn’t be stubborn with Danilo, at least in matches where he has to deal with pacey attackers. Federico Gatti has his flaws but is much better at guarding opponents.

As for the newcomer, it’ll be hard to find the right fit with little to spend. The Udinese star is rock-solid and massive but is more used to a three-man line and doesn’t have great upside. He’d be a candidate only if reasonably cheap, which probably isn’t the case.
