Juventus have reportedly identified free-scoring Atalanta center-forward Mateo Retegui as a top target for the summer transfer window. According to Tuttosport via Calciomercato, Juventus’ leadership holds the Italy international in high regard and considers him to reinforce their attacking department.

Napoli loanee Victor Osimhen remains Cristiano Giuntoli’s dream signing. However, the deal looks nearly impossible as Aurelio De Laurentiis already shut down the possibility of selling the Nigerian superstar to Juventus. Furthermore, the record-time Italian giants would likely need to beat Manchester United and Al-Hilal to his signature.

With Randal Kolo Muani unlikely to be handed a permanent stay and Dusan Vlahovic seemingly on his way out of the Allianz Stadium, Juventus are scouring the market for a new No 9. They’ve already added several names to their shopping list, including Man Utd flop Rasmus Hojlund and outgoing Lille talisman Jonathan David.

However, the former’s troubled spell in the Premier League cannot inspire much confidence. Meanwhile, David has already expressed his desire to join Barcelona on a free transfer. As such, Juventus have turned their attention to Retegui, whose outstanding maiden season in Bergamo has not gone unnoticed.

Atalanta won’t let their unstoppable goal-getter leave without a substantial transfer fee. Indeed, Gian Piero Gasperini’s men have slapped a €50 million price tag on Retegui’s shoulders. That shouldn’t deter Juventus from pursuing his services, especially if they offload Vlahovic amid growing interest from the Premier League.

Much will also depend on whether Juventus can qualify for the Champions League next term. Atalanta are one step away from locking down a top-four finish, while Igor Tudor’s men languish outside the qualifying spots heading into the last five rounds.
