Juventus started their 2024/25 Serie A season on Monday against Como and a young name has put his name in lights.
Thiago Motta handed 20-year-old Samuel Mbangula the starting nod over Douglas Luiz seeing the media ask plenty of questions before kick off.
When asked about the tactical decision, the manager said Mbangula simply deserved the chance to impress.
“Because he deserves it. He worked well in training, did everything from the first day and has done very well when coming on, so today he can help his teammates,” he explained.
And the youngster made sure to repay his boss for such a decision! After a poor Como clearance, Mbangula recovered the ball on the left wing and drove towards the goal.
He then cut inside on his right before drilling home a low strike into the far corner for the opener. Talk about a dream debut!
