Tottenham Hotspur’s brilliant away record in the Premier League continues as they secure a 1-0 victory over Burnley. It was a dull affair between the two sides as the home side defended deep, but a clever movement from Harry Kane saw him provide a header towards Son Heung-Min, who broke the deadlock in the 76th minute, effectively securing Spurs’ third away win of the campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur Player Ratings Vs Burnley

Hugo Lloris 7.5/10

OneFootball Videos

In a game where he had to remain strong, especially with two centre-forwards lurking in the final third, Hugo Lloris was decisive and solid in goal, keeping a deserved clean sheet.

Matt Doherty 6.5/10

Matt Doherty wasn’t exactly a menace on the right flank in the first half as Burnley defended well. However, the Irishman was much more effective in the second half, providing numerous forward balls.

Toby Alderweireld 7/10

Toby Alderweireld was solid enough in defence despite a couple of nervy moments in dealing with the two Burnley centre forwards. His passing was exceptional.

Eric Dier 7/10

Made his return from injury, and did well to provide solidity in the Spurs defence, although he did look shaky in defending against Ashley Barnes in one instance, in the second half.

Ben Davies 6/10

Ben Davies looked shaky in defence on more than one occasion. He seemed to be lacking proper communication with the two centre-backs and was indecisive in dealing with some of the loose balls in the defensive half.

Moussa Sissoko 6/10

Not exactly a busy game for Moussa Sissoko, who tried to compete with the Burnley midfield in what was a cat and mouse chase for the most part.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg 7/10

As Burnley barely had possession, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg had very little to do aside from providing non-progressive passes in midfield. But, the Dane rose to the occasion in the second half, as soon as the game started to open up, with the midfielder recovering a number of balls during the final phase of the game.

Tanguy Ndombele 7.5/10

An active performer for Tottenham in the middle of the park, often looking to make things happen with his clever flicks and a remarkable ability to act in tight spaces. Created an excellent opportunity for Son, late in the second half, before making way for Giovani Lo Celso.

Lucas Moura 5/10

Lucas Moura provided a minimal threat to the Burnley defence as he was too slow to move the ball forward. Deservedly taken off just before the hour-mark.

Harry Kane 7.5/10

Harry Kane most notably saved Tottenham’s blushes with a smart goalline clearance in the second half. He then went on to provide the assist for Son Heung-Min’s winner. An instinctive performance.

Son Heung-Min 7/10

Son Heung-Min surprisingly had an off day, notably missing the opportunity to score in the second half. Minutes later, the South Korean did get the winner with a smart run and an equally composed header, thus securing all three points for his side.

SUBSTITUTES

Erik Lamela 6.5/10

Replaced the ineffective Lucas Moura around the hour-mark and provided some energy and intent in the final third. Also provided the corner that led to the winner.

Giovani Lo Celso N/A

Came on for Ndombele during the final phase of the game. Didn’t do much to add to Spurs’ tally.

Joe Rodon N/A

Made his Tottenham Hotspur debut by appearing as a late substitute for Son.
