According to Sky Germany, Karlsruher SC are pushing to sign Mikkel Kaufmann permanently from FC Copenhagen this summer.
The loan deal for Kaufmann has an option to buy this summer and Karlsruhe have been impressed by his performances this season. The 22-year-old is currently valued at €600k by transfermarkt.
In his return to the 2. Bundesliga, having previously been on loan at Hamburg, Kaufmann has played 23 times this season scoring five and assisting seven times.
After a mixed first part of the season, Karlsruhe are now on a five-game unbeaten run and have moved from fighting relegation to sitting six points off of fourth.
Whether Kaufmann will be partnering Lars Stindl upfront for Karlsruhe next season is unknown. The 34-year-old has still yet to make a decision on his contract at Borussia Mönchengladbach, Stindl started his career at Karlsruhe before moving to Hannover 96 in 2010 on a free transfer.
The 34-year-old could replace Paul Nebel as the attacking midfielder is likely to return to Mainz at the end of his loan in the summer.
