MIAMI – Katty Martínez has set a new benchmark in one of the top Concacaf W leagues, becoming the first player to reach 150 goals in Liga MX Femenil.

The all-time top scorer in Mexico’s first division increased her tally to a new milestone on Monday as CF Monterrey Femenil won 6-1 over Mazatlán FC match week 13 of the Apertura 2024 seasons.

Her goal came in the 53rd minute extended her club’s lead to 3-1 with a left-footed strike outside the six-yard box to connect on a pass from Marcela Respreto. Martínez wrote history once more as “Rayadas” continue their title defense in the midst of the regular season.

The goal was the second for Martínez with Monterrey, scoring her first goal with the club in week four against Nexaca, after signing with the three-time Liga MX Femenil champions over the summer.

Martínez began her historic goal count in the Apertura 2017 with Tigres UANL Femenil, scoring 95 goals in 133 matches. With helped Las Amazonas to four league championships in nine seasons with the club.

She continued scoring with a different jersey, after moving to Club América Femenil for the Clausura 2022         season. In five seasons with Las Águilas, she scored 53 goals in 101 matches. Martínez became the second player to reach 100 goals in Liga MX Femenil, following in the footsteps of the legendary Desiree Monsivais.

Martínez led Club América Femenil to the Clausura 2023, earning her fifth league title and the second for the famed Mexico City club.

Her arrival to CF Monterrey Femenil this past summer marked another era for the forward, as she chases a sixth league championship and a fourth for Rayadas. Martínez is also seeking to lift the inaugural Concacaf W Champions Cup as Monterrey battles in Group A with the likes of Tigres UANL Femenil, NJ/NY Gotham FC, LD Alajuelense and Frazsiers Whip.

With her latest accomplishment, Martínez wrote her name in another chapter of Mexican women’s football history and she is far from done as she continues to make her mark in the Liga MX Femenil and in Concacaf.
