Before moving to AC Milan, Sergio Conceicao was the head coach of Porto, a club where he had also spent eight years as a player, and today, he shared a message after the passing of the club’s president.
There are often times when football transcends 90 minutes on a pitch, and today has been a very identifiable reminder of this. For many, football is life, but then the game can also rise above that, to create a life, change lives, and mould things into a path – a message that we saw when Silvio Berlusconi passed in 2023.
Each of us have a different person to thank for that, and to everyone, football will represent something different, and Conceicao’s message after the passing of Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa proves this beautifully.
In a statement on the coach’s Instagram, he posted the following message.
“If a picture is worth a thousand words, it would take a thousand pictures to describe everything you represent to me, President.
“What you’ve done for our Porto is well known; what you’ve done for me, for my family, we’ll keep close to our hearts forever.
“The last few years haven’t been easy, but decades of collaboration, complicity and friendship go far beyond that. A sharing that didn’t need words, gestures or expressions. A quasi-telepathy.
“Rest in peace my friend, President Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa. So long!”
Rest in peace, Jorge.
