39-year-old, Sierra Leone international striker, Kei Kamara will continue his historic MLS career in 2024. After the Chicago Fire failed to make the 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs, Kamara announced that he will play another season, just not for the Chicago Fire. Kamara should very well be on a MLS roster next season, as he has proven that he still has a lot to give. Off the field, Kamara can be a proven leader and someone who has done it all in this league. On the field, he continues to play key factors in results. In 2023, he was able to score 5 goals and 2 assists in about 1,500 minutes played.
The MLS veteran is currently 3rd all time in MLS goals scored at 144 career goals. Kamara only sits behind the likes of Landon Donovan (145 goals) and Chris Wondolowski (171 goals) for goals scored in MLS. There is no doubt in my mind that whichever MLS team signs Kamara in 2024, they will be celebrating him passing Donovan next season. He continues to show that he can be a disrupter in the box within MLS. He will get into dangerous areas, use his body, and get the ball into the back of the net somehow.
Which teams would I love to see Kei sign with next season? Well this list is completely out of nowhere, but I feel he could be a good fit on; FC Cincinnati, NYCFC, Philadelphia Union, Inter Miami CF, or Austin FC. The reason why I am leaning towards these 5 teams is the fact that there are going to be countless opportunities for Kei to score. Whenever it is through a team with a high workrate, a team with elite playmakers, or a team with a free flowing style that could play into his physical ability in the box… I feel like these teams could get a 5-10 goal scoring season from him.
