Celtic won the first domestic trophy of the season last week, defeating Rangers 5-4 on penalties in the Premier Sports Cup at Hampden Park.
It was a thrilling contest and Rangers put up a great fight to score 3-3 before the game was decided by penalties.
Keith Jackson has suggested that Celtic will make another “clean sweep” to win the domestic treble, as they have the strongest squad in the country.
Writing for the Daily Record, the highly respected journalist said that Celtic have an astute manager in Brendan Rodgers and that the Hoops will win the Scottish Premiership and another domestic cup.
“Yes. They’re the best side in the country with the strongest squad and the most tactically astute manager. They’re already well on their way to another clean sweep,” wrote Jackson in response to if Celtic can win the domestic treble.
Rodgers will take it one game at a time, and he will demand complete focus from his players.
Celtic have taken a healthy 11-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table over Rangers, and they are unlikely to squander that advantage.
However, the Bhoys did lose ground in the title race last season, and at one point, Rangers had a great opportunity to leapfrog them. But the Gers ran out of steam and ideas, and Celtic regrouped towards the end to win the title comfortably.
Rangers are playing with a lot more confidence under Philippe Clement in recent weeks, and they need to keep on winning to put pressure on Celtic.
In the Scottish League Cup final, Celtic were not at their usual best, but they still did enough to win the trophy.
Jackson is absolutely spot on that the Hoops have the best squad in the country, and they have the mentality to find a way to win under any circumstance.
