Manchester City beat Plymouth Argyle 3-1 in the fifth round of the FA Cup after a brilliant double from youngster Nico O’Reilly.

The Citizens conceded the first goal when Maksym Talovierov headed in Matthew Sorinola’s corner in the 38th minute, sparking hopes of another famous victory for the Championship outfit.

However, Man City restored parity in first-half stoppage time as O’Reilly headed home a brilliant free-kick from Kevin de Bruyne.

Conor Hazard’s stunning saves kept Plymouth in the game before the versatile English footballer completed his double by nodding home Phil Foden’s corner.

De Bruyne then wrapped up the win for the hosts with a close-range finish in the 90th minute.

In our view, the Belgian was the best performer for City in Saturday’s victory. He was a nightmare to handle for the Plymouth players as he constantly found space and put crosses into the box.

Apart from the two goal contributions, the 33-year-old also posted excellent statistics in the match.

De Bruyne had 104 touches and completed 56 of his 70 passes (80% accuracy). He registered two key passes, two clearances and an interception.

The attacking midfielder also completed 100% long balls and won 2/3 of his ground duels.

De Bruyne hasn’t been at his best this season and remained an unused substitute in the important Champions League match with Real Madrid last month.
