The midfielder is also clear that he does not want to leave the Blaugrana club for free as he values the high investment that the club made in him back in 2019. As a result, his entourage is also making efforts to dispel any doubts about his continuity at the Catalan club.

Meanwhile, Barcelona themselves have delegated the final decision on De Jong’s future to Hansi Flick. For now, the German coach has shown a lot of confidence in De Jong, but it remains to be seen how the midfielder’s position in the squad develops.

Frenkie had gained an important role in the squad following his return to full fitness, and even before Marc Casado’s injury, was emerging as a regular starter for the Blaugrana coach.
